Jennifer Doherty shares more information about the position/college: A core mission of Lyman Briggs is to prioritize excellent teaching and to foster innovation in educational practices. With our smaller class sizes, you get to really connect with students, making every class special. You can experiment with ungrading, integrate culturally affirming pedagogy, or shape a classroom culture that’s all about supporting each other’s success. Whatever you value, you can create the classroom environment to implement it.
A unique trait of Lyman Briggs is that we’re a college of the whole, without traditional departments. This means my colleagues aren't just other biologists but also chemists, mathematicians, sociologists, historians, and more. It creates a rich, interdisciplinary environment where teaching innovation isn’t just encouraged—it’s the norm. Plus, many of our faculty engage in discipline-based education research across fields like biology, chemistry, mathematics, and philosophy, constantly enriching our educational approaches.
If you’re passionate about making a meaningful impact and love experimenting with new teaching methods, we’d love for you to consider joining us. We’re on the lookout for someone amazing to join our team and keep the magic going!
