Many of us are or will be delivering courses that have online components; the learning experience and expectations for our students are likely to be different than students are used to. The first Transparency in Teaching virtual event, held in June 2020, aimed to: (i) identify components of the learning experience that our students should be aware of at the start of our courses, and (ii) brainstorm methods we could use to communicate our expectations with our students. As a quick example, if you're expecting students to interact in a manner that requires a microphone, this is something you need to be transparent about before the course even begins.
