Want to engage in a little pedagogically-relevant (but not too taxing) reading and reflection? Join us for the first BEEtween the Pages meeting of the new school year! The focus of BEEtween the Pages will be the Open Educational Resource (OER), “Knowledge Justice in the Helping Professions”. We’ll engage with the OER on a monthly basis, getting together to discuss/reflect on the content and activities. While the OER is framed in the context of “helping professions”, the content is accessible and applicable to any discipline—including teaching post-secondary biology!

Meeting ID: 952 5551 9560
Passcode: OCUBE
To ‘prepare’ for the meeting, access the OER (https://ecampusontario.pressbooks.pub/epistemicjusticeoer/), and engage with the following sections (estimate about an hour of reading/ watching/ reflecting):
- Introduction, Using this Resource (which provides access to the reflective Workbook), Author Positioning, and Acknowledgements
- Section 1.1 Personal and Social Identity, and corresponding Activity 1.1: Creating an identity mosaic & reflection
- Section 1.2 How does identity impact us and corresponding Stop & Reflect: How does positionality impact us
At the Oct 27 meeting, we’ll discuss our expectations for the OER (based on the little taste we get from the above sections) and share (if comfortable doing so) our thoughts/experiences with thinking about positionality. We’ll also chat about how we want to move forward with the reading/reflection group. If you have any questions or want to participate but can’t make the Oct 27 meeting, reach out to Jennifer Peter (jwaugh2@uwo.ca).
